Actually, I'm liking the way non-knitters are looking at my socks and saying "wow, they look just like socks you buy at the store". With the tiny guage, it does look like that, and that's pretty cool.
To sum up quickly, because I'm pretty tired, the toe was a cinch...just decreases. Doing the kitchener stitch to graft the toe closed was another sock making anti-drama. I just did what it said to do in the Stitch and Bitch's Knitters handbook (including getting my environment very quiet and concentrating) and it went off without a hitch.
Here is my sock...complete with foot inserted:
I feel so darned CLEVER :)

Real NICE!! I have a real challenge for you...for Mothers Day
in the year 2010 (haha) I want a pair of "Toe Socks". Bet that would be fun! I take it you didn't use the Kool Aid dyed yarn, as I see lots of blue here. Can't wait to see something made from that!
Love Ya, MOM
TOE socks? Are we going back to the 70's here? Anyway, I'll see what I can do, eventually.
My next sock project will be with the first batch of Koolaid dyed yarn. This is store bought yarn, but as I had never knitted a sock before, I thought I would get a handle on what I was doing before using the "good stuff". Love you!
Just kidding about the toe socks. I can still get them at Dollar Tree. SO anxious to see the Kool Aid Kid at work. Love, MOM
